Perth sign Gibbs for Big Bash
Friday 01 July 2011

After losing out on signing Chris Gayle, the Perth Scorchers have made their move and roped in Herschelle Gibbs for the Twenty20 Big Bash.

The Scorchers, coached by South African Mickey Arthur, made the announcement of signing the South African on Friday as one of the team's two internationals. Gibbs, 37, is the seventh-leading scorer in Twenty20 history with 2,673 runs at an average of 26.20 and a strike rate of 125.

The South African demonstrated his hitting power with six sixes in one over in the 2007 one-day World Cup and one of his best innings was an 111-ball 175 against Australia in 2006 in Johannesburg in a one-dayer.
