The ethical and moral issues surrounding suspended BCCI President, N Srinivasan have reportedly persuaded highly-influential individuals within cricket's world governing body to finally take notice. A report in The Telegraph reveals that Cricket Australia chairman Wally Edwards telephoned Srinivasan and actually talked about the “ethical issues” raised by Cricket Association of Bihar Secretary, Aditya Verma in a series of emails sent by him to the International Cricket Council.
Srinivasan has fervently maintained a distance from the controversy, which sees him being the protagonist in a legal battle with the Supreme Court. The Chennai Super Kings owner is intent on becoming the ICC chairman at the annual conference, next month. Earlier this year, before the apex court intervened, Srinivasan got the Board to nominate him as India’s man for the No.1 position.
At a continental level, Srinivasan continues as the Asian Cricket Council president and he chaired its finance committee meeting in Chennai on Tuesday. According to the report, Edwards’s call has “upset” Srinivasan.
The suspended BCCI chief is also not pleased over whispers that Giles Clarke, the England and Wales Cricket Board chairman, is probably mooting the idea of an “interim arrangement” in the world body, till the Supreme Court-appointed probe gets over. Srinivasan is among those being investigated by the Justice Mukul Mudgal panel, which, in its first innings, had submitted a damning report more than three months ago.
