The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing on Justice Mudgal Committee report on the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal to November 14. The apex court bench, headed by Justice TS Thakur, said that it has received the 35-page report, but is yet to go through it.
According to the Supreme Court, "This is a high voltage case". The court said it will also examine whether the report could be made public. The report does not give the names of individuals involved in IPL betting but denotes them in digits.
On Srinivasan contesting BCCI elections, the court is yet to decide. It said "If there is no finding against Srinivasan then there is no problem, but if there is a finding against someone close to him does it not shake the confidence of people or your (BCCI) position?"
The Justice Mukul Mudgal-led committee probing the IPL 2013 spot-fixing controversy submitted its final report on November 3. The sealed envelope in possession of the court expose many hidden stories, including the roles of N Srinivasan and his son-in-law Gurnunath Meiyappan in spot-fixing and betting.
