Visa delays Singh's Eng departure
Thursday 11 August 2011

With India struggling with form and injuries in the Test series against England, Rudra Pratap Singh’s inclusion in the Test side at the expense of the injured Zaheer Khan was suppose to lend a helping hand to the visitors.

But the left-armer is yet to each England - thanks to a delay in obtaining the visa.

India skipper MS Dhoni, though, suggested a quick-fix so that similar delays due to visa don't happen again in future.

"If we can organise visas for all 30 contracted cricketers for all the major nations (where India normally tour), this problem could have been avoided. That would mean anyone could fly in as a replacement or substitute at any given time," Dhoni told a leading daily.

The BCCI, despite having supplied a reserve list to the British High Commission, couldn't organise a visa for Singh, which adds to the agony of the Indian team that is having a horror time in England, down 0-2 in the four-match Test series.
