Twitter war: Lalit Modi drags Rahul Gandhi into RCA dispute
Wednesday 11 April 2018

Even before the Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Daredevils clash could begin at the SMS Stadium, a wordy duel between Lalit Modi and Rajasthan Cricket Association president Dr. C.P. Joshi set Twitter on fire.

Reacting to a report published in Jaipur DNA over differences between his loyalists and Dr. Joshi camp payment of inflated payment to a contractor for refurbishing the SMS Stadium, Modi lashed out Dr.Only Joshi and even dragged Congress president Rahul Gandhi into the controversy. The only thing that CP Joshi wants is to sit back in BCCI and steal, a fine art of looting learnt from his boss Rahul Gandhi and family,” Modi lashed out on Twitter.

Modi accused Dr. Joshi of corruption and while appreciating his loyalists for opposing Dr. Joshi, he urged them to register a police complaint against Dr. Joshi. Calling Dr. Joshi ‘chamcha’ of Rahul Gandhi, Modi said that the Congress president has still not responded to his challenge for an open TV debate.

Dr. Joshi also fired back at Modi by tweeting: Yes Mr @LalitKModi, I am a follower of Sh @RahulGandhi and that too a Proud One. And as far as the launching of an FIR, by all means, come to #India and get one registered.

CP Joshi had defeated Ruchir Modi, son of Lalit Modi, at the recent RCA elections to become president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association. However, on Tuesday evening, Ruchir and Dr. Joshi were clicked shaking hands in an attempt to show RCA being united for the IPL.

It was minutes after the conference that differences over bill payment came out and Dr.a Joshi was caught on camera storming out of an RCA meeting in a huff.  While Dr.Joshi alleged that the RCA general secretary, RS Nandu and treasurer Pinkesh Porwal were creating unnecessary hurdles, the officials allege lack of discrepancy.   “The tender for repair and renovation of the SMS stadium was granted to M/S Creative Projects Pvt. Ltd. for a sum of Rs 2.59 crore. However, the firm is a name lender while the actual work was done one Ramakant Pareek, a close aide of Dr.Joshi and and his PA Bhawani Samota. The firm has presented a bill of Rs 4 crore which is Rs 1.41 crore in excess of the actual tender cost.

Dr.Joshi and Bhawani Samota are creating undue pressure to clear the payment without calling a meeting of the advisory committee,” claimed Pinkesh Porwal. Upon such demand, the secretary and treasurer have demanded that a inquiry should be conducted in this matter by an independent third party.
