Selection panel needs to be changed: Harbhajan
Tuesday 26 November 2019

vEteran cricketer Harbhajan Singh and Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor have expressed their disappointment at the Indian cricket team's selection panel after they ignored Sanju Samson from the upcoming limited-overs series against the West Indies.
Talented wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson was not even considered for the three T20Is and three ODIs against the West Indies with Rishabh Pant being picked as the lone wicketkeeper in the 15-member team.
The national selectors have faced criticism from all quarters throughout this year with quite a few former cricketers questioning the credentials of the five-member panel. Tharoor and Harbhajan have now joined the bandwagon of critics in slamming the MSK Prasad-led selection panel.
"Very disappointed to see @IamSanjuSamson dropped without a chance. He carried the drinks for three T20Is & has been promptly discarded. Are they testing his batting or his heart?" Tharoor had tweeted after the India squads were announced last week.
Harbhajan Singh replied on the tweet and also urged BCCI president Sourav Ganguly to rope in "strong people" in the selection panel.
"I guess they r testing his heart #selectionpanelneedtobechanged need strong people there.. hope dada @SGanguly99 will do the needful," Bhajji replied on Tharoor's tweet.
The senior selection committee, headed by MSK Prasad, had met in Kolkata a day ahead of the historic pink-ball Test to announce the squads for the West Indies series. This is likely to be MSK Prasad-led selection committee's final assignment as their contract expires later this month.
India will play 3 T20Is and as many ODIs against West Indies between December 6 and December 22. The 6 limited-over matches will also be India's final assignment of the World Cup year.
