Mercurial Cape Cobras batsman Herchelle Gibbs said he would look to continue his form to stake a claim in the South African team for next year's World T20 Championship.
"I would love to (repeat this performance) in every game but there are not easy games in cricket. I enjoy big occasions. I still feel I am fit, I am handy. If I can get into the Proteas (team) it'd be wonderful but if not, I am trying to give it my best shot, I've still got a good few years left in me so I am giving it everything. If it happens, it happens but if it doesn't, at least I know I gave it my everything," he said.
Gibbs made a match-winning 55 of 47 balls and, along with 23-year old Richard Levi, put on 88 for the first wicket to guide the Cobras to a seven-wicket win.
Gibbs also had a word of advice for 18-year-old Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins.
"He's got enough pace, but T20 is not all about pace.
You've got to have variations, if you have the same theory, ball after ball, it takes the effectiveness away. But he's still got enough going, he's young and strong and hit the deck quite hard today but this sort of wicket is not like the ones in Australia where he can sort of bang it in and actually get through," Gibbs said.
