Cobras ready for CSK: Philander
Tuesday 27 September 2011

Playing the reigning CLT20 champions the Chennai Super Kings in their own den is no walk in the park. But Cape Cobras all-rounder Vernon Philander believes that the home support won’t make much of a difference.

"I don't think so, in 2009 Champions League, we played Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bangalore and overcame them. We are not going to get affected (by the local support)," said Philander.

CSK slumped to a shock three-wicket loss to Mumbai Indians in their opening Group A match on Saturday and are under pressure to get back to winning ways in what has already been labelled the 'Group of Death'.

Philander added that after the unconvincing fielding effort against New South Wales Blues in their first group match, where they dropped both the Australian side's openers and missed a run-out, Cobras would be "on the money" against CSK.

About his impressive show in the match against NSW Blues, where he grabbed 2/21 in four overs, the South African pacer said, "I thought the wicket was pretty slow and I tried to mix up my pace and keep it pretty simple."
