Indian cricket has never been known for its high fielding standards. While the seeds of dedication and technique were sowed under the Gary Kirsten era, they are bearing fruit just as Indian cricket is living up to its true potential.
And current Indian skipper Suresh Raina is really impressed with the quality of fielders that he has at his disposal. "In my view, it is the best Indian fielding side I have been part of in the last five years."
While current Indian fielding coach Trevor Penny too is impressed with the fielding standards. "There are at least four or five boys in the team who are excellent," remarked Penny.
The cricketers, who have given an edge to India in the field clearly have been Manoj Tiwary, Virat Kohli, Subramaniam Badrinath and skipper Suresh Raina himself.
Penny was pleasantly surprised to see the Indian fielders attacking the ball even after a long and grueling season. "They have had a long season already but their enthusiasm for fielding is pretty high." concluded the Zimbabwean.
