Amitabh Chaudhary barred from convening selection committee meeting
Amitabh Chaudhary has been barred from convening the selection committee meeting for the one-off Test against Bangladesh, reported PTI.
The meeting, which was expected to start at 12 noon in New Delhi, was delayed by four hours after Vinod Rai, the chief of committee of administrators, didn't allow him to be a part of it. The meeting was eventually convened by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri through video conferencing.
"Amitabh Chaudhary had called a senior selection committee meeting in Delhi today to select the squad against Bangladesh," a BCCI source, who was witness to every incident here, told PTI, "Vinod Rai and Co have immediately swung in and barred him from doing anything. The CEO is directly convening the meeting via video conference from Mumbai."
Earlier, Chaudhary was barred from convening the selection committee meeting for selecting the squad for the Twenty20 International series against England after clarification from the Lodha Committee regarding confusion over the nine-year term to be served by officials.
Chaudhary has been allowed by the Supreme Court to be a representative of the BCCI at the ICC meeting but it was treated as an exception because of his prior experience in such meetings.
