Security concerns in Kolkata have forced the BCCI to change in the schedule of the upcoming Champions League Twenty 20 (CLT20) tournament, with two of the matches to be held at the Eden Gardens shifted to the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The tournament will be held in two phases, with the qualifiers from Sep 19 to 21 and the main tournament from Sep 23 to Oct 8.
Four Indian cities will co-host the event. While the qualifiers will be played at Hyderabad, the main tournament will be held at Kolkata, Bengaluru and Chennai.
"There is a change in the match schedule of the NOKIA CLT20, 2011. The Kolkata Police requested this change, in view of the Durga Pooja celebrations in the city, which commence on 2 October 2011," BCCI said in a statement.
"The two matches that were scheduled to be played in Kolkata on October 1 2011, have been shifted to Bengaluru," the release added.
Champions Chennai Super Kings, runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore and third-placed Mumbai Indians are the three Indians teams from IPL-4 to get direct entry into CLT20.
Kolkata Knight Riders, who finished fourth in IPL-4, will have to play the six-team qualifiers for a place in the main tournament.
