Modi inducted into the Advisory Board of Amanresorts

July 21st 2014 : Lalit Modi, President and Managing Director of Modi Enterprises and Architect & Founder - Indian Premier League has been inducted into the Advisory Board of the prestigious luxury hospitality chain Amanresorts, which is a playground of the rich and famous worldwide. The roll call of famous Aman guests include the likes of Elizabeth Taylor and Roman Abramovich to name a few.

From Phuket, Aman extended to Bali, the Philippines, Morocco, India, Bhutan, Tahiti, Turkey and the Rocky Mountains, China and now has 26 luxury resorts and hotels worldwide. The most recent Aman Resort being a palazzo on the Grand Canal in Venice, where even the cheapest suites are more than $2,000 a night.

In a battle between a Russian-American duo over control of Amanresorts, last week saw the  London  High  Court  reinstate as Chief Executive its 81-year-old founder Adrian Zecha. The resort group immediately named former Indian  Premier  League chief Lalit Modi as a member of its advisory board.

"I want to inform you of a monumental development for Amanresorts," a letter addressed to the Amanresorts staff from the office of the CEO, said.  "The High Court of London has reinstated the company's founder and visionary, Adrian Zecha, to his rightful position as chief executive officer, effective immediately. Omar Amanat will assume the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors," the letter added.

The associates of Adrian Zecha included two business tycoons -- Russian property honcho Vladislav Doronin and American entrepreneur Omar Amanat.

The letter to employees further said, “Amanresorts will be positioned to pursue the capital and resources needed for extraordinary growth, for which an advisory board has been set up with what it termed as top leaders from the business and public sectors as its members.”

Besides Lalit Modi, the members include Alan Hassenfeld, former chairman of toy brand Hasbro, Rutsel Martha, former general counsel of the UN and Interpol, and Louis Freeh, former director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"We look forward to drawing on the exceptional talent, expertise and wisdom of the advisory board as we take Amanresorts to new heights," the letter said.

Commenting on his induction into the Advisory Board at Amanresorts, Mr. Lalit Modi said, "I am delighted to be associated with  a globally renowned and prestigious brand like Aman Resorts, which has been akin to a second home for me and my family for many years. It is even more special for me, to have been invited as an advisor by the company’s founder and visionary Chief Executive Officer – Adrian Zecha.
