Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf has thanked Indian Foreign Minister S.M Krishna for facilitating a cricket series between both countries.

Ashraf called on Krishna on Friday to acknowledge the efforts made by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in conducting a cricket series between both nations.

Ashraf also asked Krishna for the Indian Government's support in making easy the issuance of visas to Pakistani fans who want to witness the cricket series, which would be played in India, starting in December.

"A cricket series between Pakistan and India is very important for the fans on both sides of the border. These matches are always considered to be historic and everyone wants to be part of that. So, it is extremely important that fans are facilitated, which any way possible by the governments and the cricket boards of both the countries," the Daily Times quoted Ashraf, as saying in a PCH statement.

"I am thankful to Foreign Minister Krishna for his promise of support in issuance of Indian visas to the Pakistani fans. I sincerely hope that this series will bring the people of both countries closer," the statement added.
