No ban on WAGs, claims BCCI
Thursday 21 August 2014

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clarified that no ban has been imposed on the wives and girlfriends (WAGs) accompanying the cricketers during the foreign tours.

The Board issued the clarification in the wake of media reports that it was planning to restrict WAGs during foreign tours, as it affects the cricketers' performance.

The issue came to light after Indian batsman Virat Kohli was given permission by the BCCI to take his girlfriend,  actress Anushka Sharma on the current tour of England tour. The Indian Cricket Board had also given permission to Murali Vijay, Stuart Binny, Gautam Gambhir, and other cricketers to take their wives to England.
