Mithun Manhas' innings a lesson for youngsters
Sunday 11 November 2012

Delhi's chief cricket coach Vijay Dahiya was pleased with his side's dominant performance over Odisha in the Ranji Trophy match and lauded veteran Mithun Manhas for his unbeaten 161 at the Ferozeshah Kotla.

The 33-year-old Manhas scored 161 in 273 balls, which included 26 boundaries.

"Good day. I am pleased. Mithun played very well. I think his innings should be a lesson for youngsters. The Delhi team revolves around players like him and Shikhar Dhawan. The young guys like Milind Kumar andMohit Sharma should look at his innings and learn from him," said Dahiya.

Milind, 21, and Mohit, 20, got out cheaply against a listless Odisha bowling attack.

"I am not exactly worried about the young guys nor am I unhappy with them. It is just that they should spend more time at the crease. There is no hurry, you have the entire day, so make the most of your opportunities," added Dahiya, who is a former India wicketkeeper.

"Players have to respond to the situation. In the middle, it is completely their decision to decide what to do with the ball. No one is coming to tell them," added Dahiya when asked about the shot selection of his batsmen.

Talking of his team's chances of winning the on-going match, he said: "It depends on how we bowl tomorrow. It won't exactly be easy as the Odisha batsmen will also come out with a set mindset."
