Delhi HC restores Lalit Modi's passport
Wednesday 27 August 2014

In a historic judgment, the Delhi High Court has restored Lalit Modi's passport, in addition to setting aside all the previous orders, including those of FEMA. The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) chief, who has been living in exile in England after his passport was revoked by the Mumbai Regional Passport Office in March 2011, can now return to India.

Former IPL commissioner Modi had challenged the single bench order, which cancelled his plea of challenging the revocation of his passport. Modi is currently being probed for allegations of financial irregularities in the cash-rich IPL tournament.

Early this year, a defiant Modi contested the RCA elections and was declared elected as the president of RCA in May by a court ruling. Following Modi's elevation as the RCA President, the BCCI had suspended Rajasthan from all domestic competitions.
