BCCI trying to convene meeting on Thursday
The BCCI is attempting to convene a meeting at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai on Thursday to identify three cricket administrators whose names it can submit in a sealed cover to the Supreme Court on Friday. One of them will be nominated by the court to attend the ICC board meeting in Dubai during the first week of February.
The BCCI’s MOA and rules and regulations do not permit a meeting to be convened in two days, but it appears that BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary (acting secretary because Ajay Shirke has been removed by a Supreme Court order) is trying to find ways to convene one.
Many officials have been disqualified by the January 2 order of the Supreme Court and a majority of the States will have to make sure that only the correct representative is nominated to attend.
The Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) has nominated the ousted BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke — former MCA president — as its nominee for BCCI meetings. The MCA’s present president is Abhay Apte.
