BCCI secretary sacked from own association
Monday 28 April 2014

Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Sanjay Patel has been forced to bow out as the joint secretary of Baroda Cricket Association in a working committee meet headed by its president Samarjitsinh Gaekward on Sunday.

The working committee of the BCA met in Baroda to endorse the proposal tabled by the rest of the members.

They were of the view that Patel along with Cassim Unia, Dr. Anandrao Patel and Adv. Kaushik Bhatt were not eligible to continue their posts, due to technical issues. All four had been elected in December 2013.

The issue was raised by BCA general body members Kiran More, Anshuman Gaekward and Manoj Karlekar in March.

It is also learnt that Patel has lost the support of the president who had backed him to the post in the December elections and the duo was instrumental in defeating the opposite faction headed by former India cricketers More and Gaekward.

Apparently, during Sunday’s meeting, Samarjitsinh asked Gaekward to inform Patel about the expulsion and also gave time to the chartered accountant to put forth his views.
