White eager to restore reputation
Friday 05 August 2011

Australia’s T20 skipper Cameron White is hoping that the success in Sri Lanka will help restore the Aussies’ reputation as a dominant force in world cricket.

White will lead the Australian team on Saturday night in the first of two Twenty20 matches at Kandy's Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Australia, who have now slipped to fifth in the Test rankings, will also play five ODIs and three Test matches.

"If Australia was to win a Test series, that could be the start of something that was a good Test run I guess. But I'm not sure whether you can get aura or something like that back in just one match or one series," White was quoted as saying in the Sri Lankan media.

White wants to see his side win in the two Twenty20 matches that start the tour.

"What we have done over the past few days is to have some very good training sessions. Before we left Australia we got some good match-situation practice in, so I think by the time Saturday comes around, we've got two days in Kandy, and I think we'll be very well prepared for not only the two Twenty20 games but the series ahead," the Victorian said.
