SC questions Srini's 'conflict of interest'
Monday 24 November 2014

The Supreme Court (SC) has slammed N Srinivasan, who is seeking a nod from it for reelection as BCCI's president and has been suspended till investigations into corruption in the IPL are over, for conflict of interest.

"You can't make a distinction between BCCI and IPL. IPL is a by-product of BCCI."

"Some people who are in the BCCI now own a team. It has become a mutual benefit society. The ownership of team raises conflict of interest. President of BCCI has to run the show but you have a team which raises questions and it can't be wished away".

"One of the employees (Meiyappan) of your team was involved in betting. You have to reply because it will affect the position and the dignity of BCCI president position."

Srinivasan, his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan, IPL COO Sundar Raman and Raj Kundra were directed by the apex court to file their affidavits in response to the adverse findings in the Mudgal report. Meiyappan, identified as Chennai Super Kings team principal by the inquiry panel headed by former judge justice Mukul Mudgal, has been indicted for betting. Srinivasan owns Chennai Super Kings.
