The Supreme Court of India has dismissed BCCI's plea for review of its January 22 order, which disqualified those with commercial interest in cricket from participating in the functioning of the board.
According to BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur, "Srinivasan is ineligible to attend the October 4 meeting, which will choose the next BCCI president, but can cast his vote at the SGM in case there is an election."
The SC had on January 22 dismissed the amendment to Rule 6.2.4 as void and ineffective, which permitted board officials to have commercial interest in IPL or Champions League T20 tournaments. The court had said, "We make it clear that the disqualification for contesting elections applicable to those who are holding any commercial interest in BCCI events shall hold good and continue till such time the person concerned holds such commercial interest or till the committee considers suitable punishment to those liable."
